The problem

The room can take more than you think.

Your room was designed for 5 kW racks. You’ve been told it can’t do 30. Usually that’s a statement about the current mechanical design, not about the building — and the difference between those two things is worth a great deal of money.

Why this is the one thing we don’t subcontract

Mechanical decides the date.

It’s the trade that determines whether a density retrofit hits its number and hits its date. It’s where the schedule slips and where subcontractor coordination breaks down.

The heat equation
